Transitioning the IJW

November 1, 2016

Dear Subscribers,

Thank you for your support of the International Journal of Wilderness (IJW), now comprising 21 years of a global archive of wilderness information, and we are eager to continue to build this truly unique asset. To do so most effectively, in 2017 the IJW will undergo some changes in production as we transition to a different format by 2018.

Two issues of the IJW will be produced in 2017 (June and December) in the usual 48-page format. Subscriptions in 2017 will remain at $35 and will only be available as an online subscription. Print subscriptions will not be available; however, all subscribers can print each issue as a personal, downloadable PDF file accessible at www.ijw.staging.wpengine.com.

A new digital access option will be available for library and organizational subscriptions in 2017. Groups will now have easier access to the journal by submitting their registered IP addresses to the IJW team. If you’d like to sign your group up for IP journal access, please contact jennifer@wild.org.

Changes in the production of IJW are necessary to meet rising costs, and also to deliver a better Journal in the easiest, most accessible manner.  The entire archive of back issues of IJW will remain open to the public at our website www.ijw.staging.wpengine.com.

We look forward to unveiling the upcoming December 2017 issue of the IJW, which will be a special issue that focuses on celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and includes articles about river protection and management under this important Act.

We appreciate your patience as we transition IJW to an exclusively digital product.
